About Me
I graduated in Architecture from the University of Lisbon in 1989, beginning my career designing a variety of projects, including residential apartment buildings, detached houses, commercial spaces, schools, and hotels. Over 14 years at Arquiforum, a small architectural practice, I honed my craft and eventually assumed a management role.
In 2001, inspired by my participation in a self-build housing cooperative project, I founded “Olha o Rio,” a cooperative that successfully designed and constructed an 8-storey apartment block with 16 units. I played an integral role in every stage of the project, from land acquisition and design to planning, funding, contractor selection, on-site coordination, and final delivery. This experience led me to join the housebuilder Torrestelo as a Design and Project Manager, contributing to notable developments such as "Domus Restelo" while also supporting marketing and sales efforts.
From 2005 to 2015, I managed similar self-build housing schemes through my company, Casa XXI, delivering two additional apartment blocks (16 and 12 units, plus commercial spaces) and completing smaller residential projects.
In 2015, I relocated to the UK to pursue a Master’s degree in Construction Project Management at the University of the West of England, Bristol. This degree formalized my extensive project management experience and deepened my expertise in areas such as BIM, contractual law, procurement, finance, and sustainability.
Following my MSc, I worked as a Technical Coordinator for residential developers Strongvox (Taunton) and Wainhomes (Exeter), further refining my skills in residential development. In 2019, I sold property I had developed in Portugal and reinvested in the UK, including redesigning and refurbishing a bungalow—a project I successfully managed through to completion in 2020.
Since January 2020, I have collaborated with Bondstones, a Taunton-based architectural practice, and the Stags Planning and Design department. My focus has been on bespoke residential projects for individual clients, combining my extensive experience with a passion for creating site-specific architectural solutions. I am committed to delivering projects from concept to completion with a client-focused approach and meticulous attention to detail.
